Gordon V. Naar's Obituary
Gordon V. Naar, age 94 of Millville, DE, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at his home. He was born on December 7, 1928, in Amityville, NY, son of the late David and Bernardine Naar.
Mr. Naar was a graduate of Massapequa High School and the Art Career School in NYC. A proud veteran, he honorably served in the US Army Air Corps from 1946-1949. He enjoyed an illustrious career as a commercial artist for various advertising firms in New York City and met his future wife while employed by ABC in Manhattan. Mr. Naar had many interests and hobbies. His creativity showed through his talented woodcarvings and beautifully sculpted marble pieces, and his green thumb was evidenced by his meticulously maintained gardens. Mr. Naar was also a faithful and active member of the Community Lutheran Church in Frankford, DE. Above all, he cherished time spent with those he held most dear. Mr. Naar was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and friend who will be genuinely missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Naar was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gloria Naar, in 2016. He is survived by his children: Karen Kahrs (Steve) of NY and David Naar (Ann) of Milton, DE; and his grandchildren: Alyssa Kahrs of NJ and Sarah Naar and Zachary Naar, both of Milton, DE.
A chapel committal service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at 10:00 AM, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Community Lutheran Church, 30897 Omar Road, Frankford, DE 19945.
