Gordon J. Boslet's Obituary
Gordon J. Boslet, Sr., of Lewes, DE, age 74, passed away on Friday, May 21, 2010 at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. He was born March 5, 1936 in Glen Cove , Long Island, NY, son of the late Joseph Francis and Florence Leona (Hanley) Boslet.
Mr. Boslet and his wife relocated to the beach from Lake Placid, NY in 2003. Prior to that, he lived in Hicksville, NY until 1987 where he was the former owner and operator of a septic waste disposal company. Gordon graduated in 1954 from Hicksville Senior High School, Long Island, NY and from Eastern Military Academy, Connecticut. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1965.
Gordon will be remembered for his great story telling abilities and for his love of wood working and wood carving. He was an avid tinkering engineer at home and was always ready to lend a helping hand to neighbors, friends and family. He gave generously of his time to all who needed his assistance. He was very skilled at all trades and a master of his own. He will be missed by all who encountered him personally and professionally.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Margaret E. Boslet; his son Gordon J. Boslet, Jr. of Lewes; three daughters: Lorraine Boslet of Lewes, Shannon Porter and husband Ken of Lake Placid, NY and Kristen Boslet and companion Shane Barry of Saranac Lake, NY; his former daughter-in-law, Leslie Milhill-Boslet of Milford, DE; six grandchildren: Rane, Zachariah Kenneth, Cody, Casey, Gordon III, and Clarice; two brothers: Peter Skelly and wife Karol of South Carolina and Joseph Boslet of Long Island, NY; a sister-in-law, Tammy of North Carolina; his Aunt Marie Boslet of Hicksville, Long Island, NY; cousin, Brother William Boslet, OSF of Brooklyn NY; nephew Joseph and wife Jessica Boslet; two nieces: Heather Boslet and Christina Skelly; and many cousins and friends from Lake Placid, Hicksville and Rehoboth Beach.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his granddaughter Jocelynne Marie.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, May 27, 2010, 7:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Family and friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 5:00 PM. Interment will be private.
