Golda Kathryn Brittingham's Obituary
Golda Brittingham, age 97, one of Rehoboth Beach’s most popular and long-lived residents, passed away on Friday, May 21, 2021. Golda was born in Rehoboth Beach on May 27th, 1923 and was immortalized as one of the “Belles of Rehoboth” in her teens.
After graduating from high school, Golda moved to Wilmington where she met and married Stanley Brittingham, her soulmate and husband for the next 55 years until his passing in 2002. They moved back to Rehoboth Beach in 1985.
Well into her 90s, she was known for long walks around Rehoboth as she visited with residents and visitors alike. Golda lived her life according to the motto: “the best way to make new friends is to just greet everyone as if they are a friend already.” She was often seen dining with friends ranging from 20-something kids working summer jobs, to local merchants and old high school friends. Above all, Golda enjoyed time spent with those she held most dear. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Golda is survived by her children: Steve Brittingham, Donna Lynn Murphy, and Mark Brittingham; her 6 grandchildren; her 3 great-grandchildren; and her great-great granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM.
