Glenn David Hoy's Obituary
Glenn D. Hoy, age 71, passed away on January 2, 2023, in Milton, DE. He was born on April 10, 1951, in Long Branch, NJ to John Devere Hoy Jr. and Lulu Burst. He attended Neptune High School.
Glenn was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served honorably in the United States Army for six years, receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his service with the 1st Battalion of the 9th Cavalry.
After the war, Glenn earned his bachelor's degree from Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, WV. Upon graduating, he worked in advertising for the Tigert Valley Press, as a trip leader and raft guide for Appalachian Wildwaters, and as ski personnel for Canaan Valley Ski Resort. He was an early adapter of the personal computer, running one of the first computer stores in West Virginia in the 1980’s. After moving to Delaware, he joined the finance department at EDIS and later co-managed Greenville Travel, his family's travel business. He lived in Wilmington, DE for 40 years before moving to Milton in 2018.
Glenn was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed. He was known for his love of adventure and travel. He enjoyed tennis, golf, playing music, boating, spelunking, white-water rafting, DIY projects, and landscaping. Above all, he cherished time spent with his loved ones. Glenn is survived by his wife of 40 years Deborah (Martinez) Hoy, his daughter Jessica Quackenbush (David), his sons Michael Hoy and Bradley Hoy (Whitney), his sisters Sandy Hoffman (Thomas) and Gail Kellenberger, and his granddaughters Lily and Evy Quackenbush. He is also survived by his dogs George and Gracie.
