Gladys I. Hartzel's Obituary
Gladys I. Hartzel, age 92, of Bridgeville, DE, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at her granddaughter's home. She was born in Preston, MD, on May 10, 1927, daughter of the late John and Lucy (Cannon) Dolby.
Mrs. Hartzel raised broiler chickens on the family farm with her late husband, Albert. Her interests were many and included reading, sewing and knitting, baking delicious desserts, and gardening. Above all, Mrs. Hartzel cherished time spent with those she held most dear. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hartzel was preceded in death by her beloved husband Albert Hartzel in 2015. She is survived by her son, Wesley G. Hartzel of Bridgeville, DE; her daughter, Brenda H. Lewis and her husband, James of New Castle, DE; her daughter-in-law, Rebecca Hartzel of Bridgeville, DE; her grandchildren: Cindy C. Mast of Georgetown, DE, Angela M. Allen of Lincoln, DE, Alison F. Hollingsworth of Dover, DE, and Jennifer H. Kintz of Lincoln, DE; and her 9 great-grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Bridgeville Cemetery, South Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE.
