Giuditta "Judith" Petrossi's Obituary
Giuditta Petrossi, Indomitable Spirit
Giuditta "Judith" Petrossi, age 81 of Lewes, DE, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018, at Delaware Hospice Center, in Milford. She was born on November 15, 1936 in Zirndorf, West Germany, daughter of the late Julius and Margarete Petrossi.
Giuditta moved to the United States in 1969 with her then-husband, a Lewes, DE native and her daughter. In 1979, she became an offician citizen of the United States of America.
Giuditta possessed an amazing strength of will; she was stubbornly independent and led a life well-traveled. Giuditta enjoyed the beach and all of its treasures, whether sea, or earthbound. She was blessed with a gardener's green thumb and a love of nature's seasons. At heart, Giuditta was a kind, sweet soul of great faith who never learned the art of "sugar coating" her words. One always knew where one stood in her eyes. She loved helping people and animals, serving as a longtime volunteer for Groome UMC and the New Life Thrift Shop.
Giuditta spent many years employed as the executive manager of the Dentino family-owned Sirocco Motel on Rehoboth's boardwalk. She took great joy in relationships built with repeat guests. Giuditta left behind a world she made better with her presence.
"Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, she was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure."
In addition to her parents, Giuditta was preceded in death by her son, Joaquim; and her brother, Rajer. She is survived by her daughter, Tanja Doty-Levenson and her husband David of Lewes, DE; and her sister, Thea Strehl of Germany.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Giuditta's memory to Merr Institute: 801 Pilottown Road; Lewes, DE, or the Brandywine Valley SPCA: 22918 Dupont Boulevard; Georgetown, DE 19947.
