Geraldine H. Rose's Obituary
Geraldine Rose, age 79, of Bridgeville, DE, passed away peacefully at home, on Friday, November 25, 2022. She was born April 10, 1943, in Bridgeville, DE, daughter of the late Charles Leon and Helen Delores (Gray) Hastings.
Born and raised in Bridgeville, Mrs. Rose loved her hometown. She was a hard-working woman all of her life, and she instilled that strong work ethic in her children. She was employed by H.P. Cannons for many years and held numerous factory jobs throughout her working life, all while raising a family and creating a warm and loving home for them. In 1985, she married Donald L. Rose of Bridgeville, DE, in Denton, MD, and they enjoyed twenty-eight happy years together, until his death in 2013.
Mrs. Rose took pleasure in the simple things of life. She was an enthusiastic NASCAR fan, and cheered for Jimmy Johnson, Brad Keselowski, and Chase Elliott. She loved the thrill of playing the slots, deer hunting with her husband and spending time with her sister Eleanor, with whom she shared a very close relationship. She also loved having the companionship of her faithful dog, Ava. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family the most. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend and will be deeply and genuinely missed by those blessed to have known her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rose was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald L. Rose and her son, Ricky Ray Absher. She is survived by her three daughters: Vickie Hollis (David), Darlene Dahling (Ernie) and Wanda Reed (John); her grandchildren, Niki Russell (Josh), Danielle Lones (Devon), Amanda Hollis (Steve), Valerie Brown (Denzel), Lori Connor (Jake), Josh Dahling (Sheyenne); Gregory Baker, Jr., Deanna Bohenko (Brian), Brandon Baker, and R.J. Baker; Angela Heck, and Jonathan Absher (Sara), her siblings, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will take place on Saturday. December 3, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Bridgeville Cemetery, 2 North Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE. Her Celebration of Life Reception will be at 12:30 PM at the Greenwood Fire Hall, 12611 Fire Hall Ave., Greenwood, DE.
