Geraldine "Dolly" Carodiskey's Obituary
Geraldine “Dolly” Carodiskey, age 80, of Lewes, DE passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2015, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE. She was born Thursday, March 28, 1935 in Shamokin, PA, daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Mohorovic) Luksic.
Dolly was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. After graduating high school, she left for the big city of Harrisburg, PA, to work for an insurance agency. While working in Harrisburg, she met her future husband, Donald, at a local dance. They married and relocated to Washington, DC, where they lived, raised their children and worked for over 30 years before retiring to the Lewes, DE area.
Dolly loved to sew, bake, read, crochet and knit. She was an active member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church and enjoyed taking various trips through Del Tech and with the Lewes Senior Center. She was generous with her time and her talents to help those in the community. She was blessed to have many friends and participated in several social and support groups.
In addition to her parents, Dolly was preceded in death by her four-year old son, George, and her husband, Donald George Carodiskey, of 52 years. She is survived by her daughter Susan Carodiskey and husband David Braziel; son Steven Joseph Carodiskey; daughter Diane Michele Carodiskey, grandson, Jonathan Price; two great-grandchildren Alyssa and Carly Price; her brother Edward Luksic, sister Dorothy Paszkiewicz and husband Norbert; brother Joseph Luksic and wife Carol and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces , grandnephews, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at 11:00 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE 19958, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10 AM. A reception will follow after the mass in the parish hall. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her honor may be made to Casa San Francisco, 127 Broad Street, Milton, DE 19968 or to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
