Gerald E. Simonds' Obituary
Gerald E. Simonds passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 20, 2015 with his family by his side after a long battle of heart disease. Gerald dedicated his life to his family and his animals. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He was born on April 25, 1923 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, son of late Edwin T. Simonds and Geraldine V. Baker. He retired from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission after more than a decade of faithful service to the Federal Government in 1988.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley E. Simonds, of 30 years.
Gerald is survived by his daughter, Cindi VanVliet and her husband Tom, two granddaughters, Jessica Lyn and her fiancé Michael and Heidi Marie and her significant other Gregory, three great-grandchildren Briella Elizabeth, Colton Andrew and Dawson Nathaniel due in March 2016.
Burial will be private at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, DE.
