Claire,
You know how sorry I am for your loss… Losing Jerry just leaves a hole in our hearts… and always will. He was a wonderful boss… But more than that, a leader. He mentored everyone and challenged us to work harder and be our best selves. I remember one time as the banter was flowing between hours of hard work, I thought I had landed a great rejoinder. Score! I thought… Jerry silently giggled and then it rumbled to the surface in a burst of laughter to acknowledge my witty remark, but then he looked at me with that special look he has and told me “now, I need to ramp up my game.“
Over the years, he continued to help me and countless others sharpen our skills… And in so doing, he became one of my dear friends.
He used to bring me cassette tapes of his songs, which you and he took down to Nashville every year. I wish I had all his songs now, but I am so happy that I got to see you and him in 2019 and hear him play. The song he wrote in response to my painting is one that I play all the time. Isn’t it wonderful that we still have his voice? He loved you with all that he had to give, we all were blessed to see that love and share in it.
I cannot believe it has been a year since we lost him, but my thoughts and prayers are ever with you.
Reach out anytime, my friend.
