Georgia Donna Fegley's Obituary
Georgia Donna Fegley passed away peacefully in Lewes, Delaware, on April 14, 2025, after struggling with dementia for several years. She was surrounded by loved ones.
Georgia was born on April 25, 1944, to Donald and Louise (Wanger) Fegley in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The family later moved to Easton, Pennsylvania, where Georgia graduated from high school in 1962.
Guided by her love of literature, Georgia earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Susquehanna University in 1966. Her empathy and compassion then led her to become a licensed Social Work Associate, and she went on to have a long and distinguished career working for the State of Delaware, supporting vulnerable people.
Georgia especially enjoyed working with those grappling with addiction and later earned her Master of Science degree in Community Counseling from Wilmington College in 1998. The majority of her professional life was spent in the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, assisting individuals with disabilities. She eventually became a unit supervisor. Georgia loved her work, her clients, and her team.
She was a beloved companion to Richard Frick — together since 2013 and devoted to each other until the end. She dearly loved her sister Carol and was an amazing aunt ("Auntie G") to her niece Susie, nephew James, and her grandnieces and grandnephews: Rosie, Anna, Theo, and George. In addition, she was a loving and supportive friend to so many.
Georgia loved the beach, having spent childhood family holidays in Ocean City, New Jersey — which inspired her move to Lewes for retirement. She was a talented photographer who also loved reading, music, traveling, the arts (especially the theatre), walking, organizing parties and celebrations, and shopping for bargains. She had an infectious laugh that those who knew her would recognize instantly, and her smile lit up the world.
Georgia is deeply missed by all who knew her and will be remembered for her kindness, loyalty, steadfast friendship, impeccable taste, and her wisdom — as well as her readiness for joy and laughter. Not forgetting her beloved family of “bears”!
