George R. Wilkinson's Obituary
George Robert "Bob" Wilkinson, Jr., age 70, of Lewes, DE, died Tuesday, September 11, 2007 in Elsmere as a result of a tragic automobile accident. He was born March 7, 1937 in Wilmington, DE, son of the late George R. Wilkinson and Virginia Marian (White) Coleman.
Mr. Wilkinson had a long and successful career in real estate in Sussex County starting with Anderson Stokes in the 1970's. He was one of the founders of the Doo-Dah Parade held annually in Lewes on the fourth of July. He loved to fish and entertain and where he was so too was his dog Lexie. He was especially devoted to his family and friends. He will be missed terribly by so many. He also served his country with the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his daughter Connie-Jo Martinez and her husband John of Newtown, PA; two sons, George Robert "Guy" Wilkinson III and Scott Wade Wilkinson both of Lewes; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Leigh Matassino of Greenville, DE and Joyce Anne Simmons and her husband Bill of Georgetown, DE; and his devoted friend, Lorenzo West of Lewes.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes where friends may call beginning at 12:30 PM. The Rev. William Hopkins will be officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the S.P.C.A., 22918 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947.
