George Rodney Warren's Obituary
George Rodney Warren Jr., age 97 of Lewes, DE, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Brandywine Senior Living, in Rehoboth Beach, DE. He was born on April 28, 1921 in Magnolia, DE, son of the late George Rodney Warren and Zora (Poore) Warren.
Mr. Warren was a brick mason by trade for the entirety of his life. He also retired from Cape Henlopen School District where he served as Superintendent of Building and Grounds. He was the consummate outdoorsman, enjoying nature in all its forms. Fishing, hunting, clamming, crabbing, and gardening were among his favorite activities. Mr. Warren was a former coach of Lewes Little League, having helped build the dugouts at the Little League fields, as well as being a former member of the Lewes Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Warren relished his part in the community and enjoyed a life well-lived. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Warren was preceded in death by his brothers: Charles Warren and Herbie Warren; and his sister, Vivian Ellingsworth. He is survived by his son, Wayne H. Warren (Mary Lou); his granddaughters: Jacki Warren (Dustin) and Jennifer Reiske (Eric); and two great granddaughters, Julia and Lydia; niece Patricia McMillen and nephew Rodney Ellingsworth. The family would also like to express their thanks to a very special and wonderful caregiver, Brenda Phillips.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday September 17, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mr. Warren's memory to Lewes Little League: PO Box 107; Lewes, DE 19958, or the Lewes Fire Department: PO Box 225; Lewes, DE 19958.
