George W. Vest's Obituary
George William Vest, age 78, of Rehoboth Beach, DE was born May 7, 1929 to Marion and Fred Vest in Austin, Minnesota. He died Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE.
George is survived by Jeane Meade Vest, his wife of more than 41 years, his brother James Weston Vest and his brother-in-law, John Meade and his wife Jenny and sister-in-law, Patsy Meade. George is also survived by nieces Linda Vest Klein, Lisbeth Vest Armstrong, Martha Robb Vest, Barbara Meade Carney and nephew, Jimmy Meade, as well as numerous great nephews and nieces.
George graduated from Austin High School and earned a B.A. from Carleton College in Northfield, MN before he entered the Navy in 1951. He attained the rank of Lieutenant JG. He then served in the U.S. Naval Reserve until 1966. George then taught junior high and high school math in Illinois and Massachusetts.
George was active in the Kiwanis and in his church choir. He was an avid golfer and animal-lover who had a joke and a smile for every occasion.
George was a gentle and loving man whose life will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 2, 2007, at All Saints Episcopal Church, 18 Olive Street, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971; Rev. Christopher Moore will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to All Saints Episcopal Church, address above. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes, DE.
