George or “Punkie” as many knew him was a very generous and giving person to his community as well as his family and friends and had an unbelievable work ethic. He also had spent many a day working with Robbie Wilson setting crab pots.
After moving to Delaware his involvement in many of the local organizations and their various programs was extensive and in many cases he either was instrumental in getting them started or served in many executive officer Capacities. Over the years those memberships have included the Lewes Lions Club where he was Past President and a James McCarty and Ralph Helms Fellow, ABATE of Delaware, Lewes Little League, Cape Henlopen Little League, District 3 Little League World Series and Pack 1 Scout Troop, an active member of the Punkin Chunkin association. He could often be found helping with setting up stages in Lewes for the parades or assisting with the Old Fashion 4th of July in Lewes Celebration. In earlier years he would volunteer as an usher with the Lions Club at Dover Downs, whose tips went towards the Eye Care Programs of the Lions Club.
