George David Proud's Obituary

George D. Proud, age 82, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022. He was born on February 21, 1940, in Philadelphia, PA, the son of the late Earl and Katherine (Hartigan) Proud.
He was a proud veteran, having served in the US Navy aboard the USS Shenandoah. After his time in the Navy, his path led him to a lifelong career as a union electrician in the city of Philadelphia with the IBEW Local 98, which gave him immense pride and satisfaction. The time spent with those he held most dear was what George cherished most.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Jones, and his brother, William Proud. He is survived by his beloved wife, Theresa (Prior) Proud, his daughters Maureen Wick (Richard) and Meighan Traynor (James Hubbell) and his granddaughter, Ashley Traynor, who was his pride and joy. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, union brother and friend. Mr. Proud will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at 11:00 AM at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE. where friends may call an hour before the mass. A committal service with military honors will immediately follow the mass at 1:00 PM at the Delaware Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriot’s Way, Millsboro, DE.
