George Lari's Obituary
On August 27th, 2017, Retired Chief Warrant Officer George "Papa" Lari entered the gates of Heaven to be reunited with his wife, Helen Mae Lari. He was born on February 7, 1931 in Dearborn, Michigan, son of the late John and Mary Lari.
Mr. Lari was a U. S. Navy Veteran specializing in Cryptology. He entered the Navy underage and proudly served for 41 years until his retirement. After the Navy, Mr. Lari served the New Rochelle, NY community as a police officer, retiring as a Lieutenant, and later was a Private Investigator in Delaware. He was a Grand Exalted Ruler of Elks, a past Master of Masons, and a Vice Commander of the American Legion, Post 28, Millsboro, DE.
Loving, compassionate, and caring cannot begin to describe this amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was loved by many, and he will be missed by all who knew him. Throughout his incredible life, Mr. Lari served his country and communities with endless pride and caring.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Lari was preceded in death by his son in law, Claude Hurd. He is survived by his four daughters: Vickie Hurd of Lewes, DE, Donna "Red" McGevna and her husband Kenneth of Yorktown Heights, NY, Christine "Zippy" Moskowitz and her husband Steven of Yorktown Heights, NY, and Kimberly "Mootz" Hobbs and her husband JR of Princess Anne, MD; his son, George "Jody" Lari of Florida; his nine very cherished grandchildren: Keith, Sharon, Michael, Matt (Andrea), Craig, Caitlyn, Tina, Virginia, and Brandon, his daughter in law Kate; and his six great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes, Atkins-Lodge Chapel. A Masonic Service will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 11:00 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway; Lewes, DE, where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow the services at 1:00 PM, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Mr. Lari's memory to the Masonic Care Center, ATTN:Development Office, 2150 Bleeker Street; Utica, NY 13501.
