George L. Fluharty Sr. age 67, of Milton, DE passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Beebe Healthcare, in Lewes, DE. He was born on August 31, 1950 in Lewes, DE, at Beebe Hospital, son of the late Leah Truitt. Fluharty.
Mr. Fluharty proudly made his career as a brick and block mason beginning when he was 16, working with his uncles. In 1972, he started his own business, George L. Fluharty Inc. The name of the business changed in 1993 to Henlopen Masonry, Inc. and is still running today. His dedicated crew affectionately referred to George as "Chief". George could frequently be found at the Daily Market on Savannah Road playing Keno with his friends or having lunch at Hazzard’s Auto. He also loved spending time with his dogs, but his favorite time was spent with his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be dearly missed.
George is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Susan H. Fluharty of; his sons: George L. Fluharty, Jr. "Lynn" and his wife Krista and Clint Fluharty and his wife Cindy; his daughters: Rebecca Fluharty and Melissa Murphy ; his grandchildren: Kaylee, Amanda, Chloe, Mason and Cole; his sister, Bobbie Eames and husband Tom ; and his first wife, Adele Fluharty.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at 3:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Interment will be private at Whites Chapel Cemetery in Milton, DE.
Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday, March 26, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Beebe Medical Foundation ATTN: Building Fund at 902 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
