My father taught me everything I needed to know about life and especially the outdoors--which is where I feel most at home. We learned boating, how to shoot, hunt, fish including thru the ice, and trap under any weather condition. We learned to tie flies, reload shells, where North was, when it was no longer safe to be out, and always to leave the woods or stream better than when we arrived. He embodied the 'be prepared' motto. He would always loosen up on the reins when we were at Camp. I guess that's where he felt most comfortable and at home.
Dad also taught me how to repair anything whether I broke it or not! My brothers would scatter when Dad had a 'Mr Fixit' project. I learned ectronics, plumbing--including the dreaded wax seal replacement, wiring, roofing, developing film and prints in his basement darkroom, working on an engine or vehicle, gardening, lawn care, septic systems, fruit orchard maintenance, how to make wine, how to drive, and how to be a man
I am grateful to be his son and for my sons carrying on his legacy. Dad was a neat guy. I'm really going to miss him. ❤️❤️
