Genevieve Poussier Lane's Obituary
Genevieve Poussier Lane, age 99 of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021, at her home. She was born on November 1, 1921 in Marseille, France, daughter of the late Raymond and Angeluccia Poussier.
Gyne, as she was known, was incredibly proud of her French heritage. A lifelong beach bum, she was at home on the beaches in the south of France, and after frequent visits to Rehoboth, fell in love with the area and bought a home there in 1977. Gyne had many interests and hobbies. She enjoyed playing Tile Rummy, reading Danielle Steele novels, cooking, and shopping. Gyne loved riding her bike around town, going out to dinner, and seeing movies at the theater. She was an early member of the Village Improvement Association. She always appreciated a glass of wine and true to her French roots, often said, "A meal without wine is not a real meal." Above all, Gyne cherished time spent with those she held most dear. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Gyne was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 74 years, Arthur Lane, whom she married at the American Cathedral in Paris. She is survived by her children: Steven R. Lane (Mary) of Lewes, DE and Holly Lane of Rehoboth Beach, DE; her grandchildren: Brendan Lane of Chantilly, VA and Tiffany King (Zac) of Arlington, VA; her great-grandchildren: John King and Patrick King; her loving caregivers: Jeanine, Tami, Nicki, Cherie, Cecil and dear friend Carol (aka Mimi); as well as the wonderful hospice nurses of VITAS: Leann and Margie.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 5:00 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 KIngs Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 4:00 PM. Interment will be private.
