Gary E. Christie's Obituary
Gary Edward Christie, age 79, of Bethel, Delaware, passed away on January 15, 2026, at Tidal Health Nanticoke in Seaford.
He was born on January 9, 1947, in Watertown, New York, to the late Fred and Helen Christie. After leaving school early, Gary later earned his GED, a milestone he was proud of. Gary served his country in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1967 active duty during the Vietnam War.
Gary was married first to Candice Richardson in 1969, and second to Sarah C. Reynolds in 2009, who preceded him in death. He was a true jack of all trades, Gary had a special talent for small engine repair and spent countless hours tinkering in his shop. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, and woodworking. He was a proud member of the VFW, having joined in 2010.
Gary is survived by his children, Jennifer Lynn East, Patricia Rose Crawford, Gary Robert Christie, and his Stepdaughter, Rebekah Elliott and Step-son in law, David B. Elliott. He is also survived by his siblings, Glenn Christie and Patricia Ann Christie; his Grandchildren, Ashlee, Brittany, Jennifer, Sam, Sarah, Candice, Matthew, Michael, and Christopher; several Great-grandchildren; and his Step-grandchildren, Kent East, James East, Jennifer Lynn East, and Matthew East, Zachary Elliott, and Lillian Elliott.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his daughter, Michele Wharton, his wife, Sarah C. Reynolds, and his brothers, Frederick “Sonny” Christie and John Arthur Christie.
Gary will be remembered for his mechanical skills, his love of the outdoors, and his willingness to help others with whatever needed fixing. He was Generous, Kind and always had a Joke to break the tension. He will be truly Missed.
