Gail Giles' Obituary
Gail Giles, 88 of Rehoboth Beach, DE passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on November 14, 2023.
She was born in Wilmington, DE on February 6, 1935, the beloved daughter of Paul and Helen (Dale) Godwin. Gail met the love of her life, John R. “Jack” Giles and were married for 65 amazing years until his passing in 2020. Together they raised three boys, Rusty, Jeff & Jason at their homes in Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
The joy in Gail’s life came from being with Jack, especially when surrounded by her family and many friends. Everyone enjoyed her delicious casseroles, homemade chili sauce and tins of her famous Christmas cookies. Gail loved playing her daily Sudoku puzzle and cheering on favorite teams, the Phillies and the Eagles.
Gail will be missed by her sons, John “Rusty” Giles (Joan), Jeffrey (Juli), Jason (Debbie). She is “Mom-Mom” to grandchildren Justin, Emily, Tyler, Kristina Vincelette (CJ), Katie, Jack & Joe. She will also be missed by her nieces, Sue Forrest (Joe) and Joy Peoples (Jeff).
The family would like to thank the wonderful people who cared for Gail in the past month. A special thanks to Betty Sharp. You were more than a caretaker for Gail, you were her friend.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 21 at 11:00 AM at St. Edmond’s Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE, with viewing starting at 10:00 AM. Private interment at St. Joseph on the Brandywine, Wilmington, DE.
