Frederick W. Neubrand's Obituary
Frederick William “Bill” Neubrand, passed away at his home in Lewes Delaware on October 31st, 2012. He was born Sept, 28th, 1927 in Tarrytown, NY, son of the late Harold G Neubrand and Lucy Neubrand.
Bill served in the Army Air Corp directly from High School, stationed in Hawaii and swam on the Air Corp Swim team. He graduated Manhattan Technical Institute in 1949. Bill worked as a graphic designer for Homelite, Geringer and Sons Lighting and retiring from Loral Electronics, Yonkers, NY in 1989, where he worked on military projects such as The Stealth Bomber.
He married the love of his life, Maryse, on April 19th, 1952. They resided in Yorktown Heights and then Peekskill, NY where he was a Boy Scout and Sea Explorer Leader to his children. After retirement they built their dream home in Ocean Pines, Maryland.
Boating was Bill’s favorite pastime. He co-founded Peekskill Power Squadron in 1952,serving as Commander and was a member and Commodore of Garrison Yacht Club, Garrison, NY. While in Ocean Pines,he helped form the Ocean Pines Boat Club in which he was a charter member and Commodore. While in Maryland he joined the Ocean City Power Squadron and became the Vessel Examiner Inspector accomplishing over 500 vessel safety checks. He was a member of the United States Power Squadron for over 54 years. Bill was also a Volunteer Fire Police in the Ocean Pines Fire Dept and retired as a life member. He also served on the Ocean Pines Marine Activities Association Commission.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Maryse (Murphy) Neubrand, two sons; Frederick William Jr. and wife Cheryl of Pasadena, MD, James Harold of Lake Carmel, NY, two daughters; Nancy Maryse Neubrand of Peru, NY and Suzanne Sheryl McPhilomy of Danbury, CN, two sisters; Linda Lawliss of Palm City, FL. and Pricilla Iorio of White Haven, PA. seven grandchildren, Alison, Frederick William III, Lori, James Jr., Jason, Colin Pope and Sheryl McPhilomy and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, one brother, Harold Neubrand Jr. and one sister Norma Herguth.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE with a Power Squadron Service to follow. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 2:00 PM. Interment in the family plot in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Tarrytown, NY at the convenience of the family.
