Frederick William Charles Foote III's Obituary
Frederick William Charles Foote III, age 79, passed away at his home, on Monday February 28, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on January 11, 1943, in Baltimore, MD, son of the late Frederick II and Dorothy Elizabeth (Weineger) Foote.
Mr. Foote was a proud veteran, having honorably served in the US Army as a sergeant with the Green Berets. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam, where he was a Heavy Weapons Specialist and Army Medic. Mr. Foote was awarded the purple heart for his service in Vietnam. After his discharge from the Army, his path would lead him to a career with the Social Security Administration, where he advanced to the position of Division Director of Human Resources, retiring after many dedicated years. In 1999, he married the love of his life, Beverly Shreve Foote and they spent twenty-three wonderful years together.
Among Mr. Foote's many interests were being near the water, fishing and boating as often as he could. He enjoyed movies and magazines and was a proud member of the American Legion. Above all, Mr. Foote cherished time spent with his beloved family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Foote is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly (Hall) Foote; his sons: Frederick W.C. Foote, IV and Travis Scott Foote; his daughter, Jennifer Gaskins; his stepson, Justin Shreve; his granddaughters: Leah Gaskins, Brielle Gaskins, and Morgan Shreve; and his grandson, Cole Shreve.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws St., Bridgeville, DE. A viewing will be held the night prior, Friday, March 4, 2022, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic social distancing protocols must be observed and masks must be worn by everyone participating in any aspect of the service.
Interment will take place at a future date at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
