Frankie T. Markovich's Obituary
Frank T. Markovich, affectionately known by all as "Frankie," age 74, of Milton, DE passed away on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, DE. He was born on July 15, 1940 in Twin Rocks, PA, son of the late Jacob and Susan (Elick) Markovich.
Upon the death of his mother, Frankie, at age 19, came to live with his brother Louis in Lancaster, PA,
where he was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. While living in Lancaster, Frankie worked from 1960-1970 at the Occupational Development Center, a non-profit vocational training workshop for adults with disabilities. He would then enjoy a 25 year career with the Alcoa Aluminum Company. Frankie received the Employee of the Decade award in the 1980's from Alcoa an award he was extremely proud of. In 1994 Frankie and his loving family retired and relocated to Sussex County.
Never one for sitting still, Frankie embarked on another career, working with KSI in Milford, where he was employed for several years. In 2003 Frankie would join the staff at McDonald's in Rehoboth Beach, serving customer's with a smile and small conversation. Frankie was employed with McDonald's until his passing. He was a man who loved working and enjoyed making people happy. He was especially fond of small children and making them laugh. He was dearly loved by his co-workers and his footprints will forever be felt on their hearts. Frankie was a loving brother, uncle and dear friend who will be missed by all.
In addition to his parents, Frankie was preceded in death by his brother, Russell Markovich. He is survived by his two brothers Louis Markovich and his wife Mary of Milton, DE, Jacob Markovich of OH, a sister, Mary Novotny and her husband Charles of Lancaster, PA; and a nephew, George Soukas also of Lancaster, PA.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 12 PM at St. Andrew the Apostle Orthodox Church, 33384 Mackenzie Way, Lewes, DE 19958 where friends may call beginning at 11 AM. Interment will immediately follow services at Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Lewes, DE 19958.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Occupational Development Center Foundation, 640 Martha Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17601.
