Frank I. Laney's Obituary
Frank I. Laney, age 85 of Bridgeville, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at his home. He was born in Ridgeway, MO on September 2, 1933, son of the late Guy and Emmadine L Laney.
Frank was born in Ridgeway, MO, but moved to Kansas as a child, where he grew up and attended school. He worked on farms and cattle ranches while attending college until enlisting in the US Navy in 1951. Frank proudly served during the Korean War on the USS Wasp CV-18 aircraft carrier. Following his service of 8 years to country, he began a lifelong career in finance and banking, retiring from US Bank in 1998. Frank lived in the west and in Boise, ID for over 30 years. Prior to moving to Delaware, he also resided for 12 years in Charlestown, WV. Frank was an avid motorcycle rider since his early years and was a Life Member of the Goldwing Riders Association since 1985. He took great joy in traveling by Goldwing with his wife, Patty, across country, doing this several times via many different routes. Above all, Frank cherished the time he spent with his adoring family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who will be genuinely missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his brothers: Donald Gene Laney and George Ray Laney. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Patricia "Patty" Laney, his sons: Don (Marge) of Reno, NV, Kim (Linda) of Pueblo, CO, Dale (Darcy) of Boise, ID, and Kurk Laney (Donna) of Bridgeville, DE; his 10 grandchildren; his 12 great-grandchildren; and his sisters: Ellen Ireland (Jerry) of Lenexa, KS and Maryiln Cawthon of Scott City, KS.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 532 Stein Highway; Seaford, DE, where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 32112 Vines Creek Road; Dagsboro, DE. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Bridgeville, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Frank's Memory to Our Lady of Lourdes Building Fund, c/o Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church: 532 Stein Highway; Seaford, DE 19973.
