Frank Calvin Hunsberger's Obituary
Frank Calvin Hunsberger, age 98 of Bridgeville, DE, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at ACTS Manor House, in Seaford. He was born on July 24, 1925, in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Ulysses S. Hunsberger and Emma (Emily) C. Ciampa.
Frank was born and raised in Philly, moving to Delaware in the 1990s and spending the last 30+ years in Bridgeville. He was a graduate of Olney High School, Class of 1943, after which he proudly served in the US Air Force. Frank went on to attend Temple University while working for Philadelphia Gas Works, a company to which he dedicated many years, culminating in retirement. He had an immense love of music and was an active member of the Barbershop Harmony Society (SPEBSQSA), as well as his church choir. Frank’s mind was that of an engineer. He enjoyed tinkering and had a need to know how things worked. Frank was always the go-to guy when in need of repairs; especially for anything electric. He was a lover of all creatures, but especially dogs, of which he had and loved many throughout his life. Frank was a man of faith, with a devout love of God. Above all, he was a family man. Frank cherished time spent with his loved ones and was a constant, devoted husband, hands-on father, nurturing grandfather and great-grandfather, and supportive brother. He was loved by many and will be forever missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his brothers: Elwood Hunsberger and William Hunsberger. He is survived by his beloved wife of 75 years, Charlotte Edith Hunsberger; his daughters: Linda Weiser, Nancy Zatsick (Dan), and Wendy Hunsberger; his granddaughter, Gina Mehdi (Omar); his great-grandsons: Nathan and Joshua Mehdi; and his brother, Robert Hunsberger (Susan).
A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023 at 2:00 PM at The ACTS Manor House, 1001 Middleford Rd, Seaford, DE 19973.
