Francis E. McManus' Obituary
Francis Edward "Butch" McManus, Sr., age 76, of Lewes, DE passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 in Baltimore, MD. He was born on August 13, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Francis J. and Constance (Nedell) McManus.
Mr. McManus proudly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard and Marine Corps. Upon his honorable discharge he married, Robin, on July 26, 1981 and together they settled to raise their family in Baltimore, Maryland. Mr. McManus enjoyed a lengthy and rewarding career as a Police Office for the Baltimore City Police Department and the Baltimore City Sheriff's Office.
After retiring to Delaware, Mr. McManus became a member of the American Legion Post #5 in Rehoboth Beach, the Elks Lodge # 2540 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7234.
Mr. McManus was an exceptional cook who liked shopping at Giant in Rehoboth Beach. He was also a talented woodworker, enjoyed fishing on the Delaware waters and riding his motorcycle.
Mr. McManus is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Robin M. (Jarrett) McManus; three children: Katelyn C. McManus, Francis E. McManus, Jr. and Jarrett A. McManus; three brothers, James McManus and his wife Lori, Kevin McManus and Thomas McManus; two sisters: Eleanor Myrus and her husband Ted and Florence Piro and her husband Sal; a sister-in-law, Marilyn C. Skeckells and her late husband Milton; two brothers-in-law: Richard T. Jarrett, Jr. and his wife Lynn and Mark K. Jarrett and his wife Cathy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016, at 11:00 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow services at 1:00 PM at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE.
