Francis Gallo's Obituary
Francis Gallo, age 91, of Milton, DE, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Beebe Healthcare, Lewes, DE. He was born in Pottsville, PA, on Wednesday, August 22, 1923, son of the late John and Marie (Sanders) Gallo.
Mr. Gallo had proudly served his country for 20 years in the US Merchant Marines and US Navy during WWII, where he sailed the world, especially Korea and China. After his honorable discharge, Mr. Gallo embarked on a longtime career as an Electronic Technician with RCA in New Jersey. He and his wife relocated to Delaware in 1992 after Mr. Gallo's retirement.
Mr. Gallo was a Life Member of the American Legion Post #28, Millsboro, DE and former member of the Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge #2540 in Lewes, DE. He volunteered for 20 years with the Lightship Overfalls Maritime Museum in Lewes.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Gallo was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Vincent Gallo. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sandra (Laird)) Gallo of Milton, DE, one son; Lawrence Gallo of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, one daughter; Karen M. DeFeo and her husband Richard of Mays Landing, NJ and three grandchildren; Frank, Anthony & Jackee DeFeo, all of Mays Landing, NJ and one great granddaughter, Mia Buck.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 11 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE 19958 where a Viewing will be held from 10 AM-11AM in the church. Interment with Military Honors will follow services at Henlopen Memorial Park Cemetery, 28787 Lockerman Road, Milton, DE 19968.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Overtime Maritime Museum Foundation, PO BOX 413, Lewes, DE 19958.
