Francis Joseph Fetterolf's Obituary
Francis Joseph Fetterolf, age 81, of Milton, Delaware, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, in Lewes, Delaware. Born on October 16, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the beloved son of the late Daniel C. and Florence M. Fetterolf.
Raised in Philadelphia, he graduated from Bishop Neumann High School with the Class of 1962 and soon began a long and dedicated career with Strawbridge & Clothier. Beginning in the dress buying division and later moving into management within the Clover Division, he was well respected by colleagues and known for his leadership, kindness, and reliability. While at Clover, Francis also found great joy as part of the company softball league, forming lifelong friendships and sharing in the camaraderie of the sport.
In 1996, Francis relocated to Wilmington, where he continued his career as manager of Toys “R” Us in Christiana until his retirement. He was admired by staff and customers alike, regarded as a thoughtful, fair, and good-humored manager who genuinely cared about those around him.
In 2018, Francis and wife, Cheryl, settled in Milton, Delaware, where he embraced a quieter life—enjoying golf and the simple pleasures of the community.
Francis was a devoted family man, known for his warmth, generosity, and considerate nature. He was an “all-around nice guy,” the kind of person whose humor, patience, and sincerity left a lasting impact.
