Frances Anna Watkins' Obituary
Frances Anna (Bovingdon) Watkins, age 86, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 23, 2009, at Cadbury At Lewes in Lewes, DE. Mrs. Watkins was born October 5, 1922 in Bridgeport, CT, daughter of the late Francis and Lillian (Keegan) Bovingdon.
Mrs. Watkins enjoyed a long career with the Federal Government working in an administrative capacity. While living in Washington, she was a member of the Congressional Staff Club. Mrs. Watkins relocated to the beach in 1984 after the death of her late husband. After settling into her life in Delaware, Mrs. Watkins volunteered her time to several organizations. She previously served as Treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #7447 and as Bookkeeper of American Legion Post #5, both in Rehoboth Beach; she also was a member of American Legion Post #5, Lewes. She attended St. Edmond's Catholic Church and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Watkins was predeceased by her husband Robert Watkins (1984); her daughter, Darlene Maybury; two sons, John Frugard and Mark Adams; her sister, Helena Fichter; and her brother, James Bovingdon. She is survived by four grandchildren, Christine Maccar and her husband Michael of Hainesport, NJ, Shellene Barker and her husband Lex of Hainesport, Lisa Evans of Hainesport, and John Frugard III and his wife Mary of New Hampshire; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Davis-Adams of Rehoboth Beach, DE; and a son-in-law, Robert Maybury, Sr. of Westhampton, NJ.
A Memorial Mass will be held May 4, 2009 at 11:00 AM at St. Edmond's Catholic Church, Laurel and King Charles Avenues, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Enterprises, Inc., Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the SPCA, 22918 DuPont Boulevard, Georgetown, DE 19947.
