Fernand Lorang's Obituary
Fernand Lorang; also known as, Pierre, Pete, or Beach Pop-Pop, died on July 29, 2017 at the age of 88. Pierre resided in Rehoboth Beach, De since 1992. He was born on February 16, 1929 in France. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Camille Lorang.
Pierre Worked in Paris, France at the American Embassy with the Ambassador of France. Then in 1953, he immigrated to Washington, D.C. where he worked under the secretary of State until he met and married his wife Ruth Muller. In 1963, he became a naturalized US citizen. Pierre also had top security clearance as he was the only person who could serve Pope John Paul ll during the Papal visit to Philadelphia in 1979. The majority of his working career was at Lankenau Medical Research Center as a chauffeur for 30 years.
Pierre enjoyed books, traveling and everything about history. But most of all, he enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in their athletics and also in miniature golf and checkers. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lorang was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth Lorang and daughter, Jutta Monika Maier. He is survived by his son, Peter Lorang and his wife Julie; and his grandchildren: Angelique, Michael, and Nicholas Lorang.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at a later time, with arrangements being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family recommends breakfast at the Rehoboth McDonald's, lunch at the Lemon Tree in Lewes, and dinner at Grottos Grand Slam in Lewes.
