Fay Denise Best's Obituary
Fay Denise Cousins Best, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 30th, 2026. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Jaime Fay Best, and her parents Denis Federick Cousins and Sheila Fay Cousins. She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Alfred George Best Jr.; her son, Alfred George Best III (Fred) and his wife, Nicole; and her daughter, Kristy Amanda Best Wells and her husband, Jerry. Fay also leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren: Cassidy Best (Gabriel Wescott), Gabriel Best, Landon Best (Kristen Greenly), Regan Best, Wyatt Wells, Noah Wells, and Emily Wells. She will be remembered for the love, kindness, and unwavering support she shared with her family and all who knew her.
Fay is a proud graduate of Rehoboth High School, Class of 1969. During her high school years, she worked summers at Dolle’s Popcorn. Following graduation, Fay attended Delaware Technical Community College and went on to build a diverse professional background. Over the years, she worked at Beebe Hospital, Art Age, and Midway Office & Art Supplies before serving as an Administrative Assistant with Horace Mann Insurance Company for 13 years. Through her dedication and commitment, Fay earned the respect and friendship of colleagues and community members alike.
Fay found joy in creativity, family, and adventure throughout her life. A talented artist, she enjoyed painting in a variety of mediums and expressing her creativity through knitting, sewing, and crafting beautiful sea glass jewelry. She loved the outdoors and treasured camping trips, Sunday beach days, and annual visits to the Outer Banks. Some of her happiest moments were spent with her grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come. She also enjoyed traveling with friends to explore different states, and she always looked forward to visits to Colorado, a place that held a special spot in her heart. Her love for her family and friends, her creativity, and enjoyment of travel enriched the lives of all who knew her.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 9th, from 5pm to 7pm at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy, Lewes, DE 19958. Interment will be private.
