Everett O. McGee's Obituary
Everett O. McGee age 90, of Bridgeville, DE, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Georgetown, DE, on Saturday, August 11, 1923 son of the late Ollie McGee and Mary Clendaniel McGee.
Mr. McGee was the founder and operator for many years of the Sea Board Lumber Company until his retirement. He was an avid woodworker and metal crafter and could build anything from scratch. His many pieces of furniture and other items can be found in many homes throughout the area. He was especially intrigued with steam locomotives and enjoyed any information he could find about them.
He was an Army Veteran of WW II having served in the European and African Theatres and was decorated with a Purple Heart, American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Combat Medal and the WW II Victory Medal.
In addition to his parents, Mr. McGee was preceded in death by a grandson Brian Christopher Beard (1967); two brothers: Norman and Fred McGee; a sister Margaret Zill and 2 half-sisters: Stella and Trudy. He is survived by his wife of 68 years , Betty Jean McGee; two daughters, Rebecca Beard and husband David and Patricia Passwaters and husband Milton all of Bridgeville; one son E. Leroy McGee and his wife Melinda of Bridgeville; grandsons David Bret Beard and his wife Jackie of Laurel, DE, Matthew Craig Beard of Seaford, DE and Eric Passwaters and wife Robin of Salisbury, MD; two granddaughters, Dawn Milligan and husband Mike of Bridgeville and Melinda Burdette and husband Shane of Seaford, DE; five great grandsons, Joshua Beard of Laurel, DE, Justin Workman and wife Lisa of Greenwood, DE, Nathan Milligan of Bridgeville, DE, Ryan Beard of Seaford, DE and Spencer Burdette of Seaford, DE; six great granddaughters, Courtney Beard of Dover, DE, Morgan Beard of Laurel, DE, Ashley Bowden and husband Sean of Seaford, DE, Allison Beard of Seaford, DE, Lisa and Meagan Passwaters both of Laurel, DE; one great grandson, Kaden Workman of Greenwood, DE; three great great granddaughters, Savannah Workman of Greenwood, DE, and Callie and Brystal Bowden of Seaford, DE.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2013, at 7:00 PM at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE where friends may call one hour prior to services.
Burial will be private at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE.
