Evelyn May Passwaters' Obituary
Evelyn May Passwaters, age 76, of Laurel, DE passed away on Monday October 1, 2012 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. She was born on August 5, 1936 in Capital Heights, MD, daughter of the late William Leonard Newton and Mary Fountain Newton. She was also predeceased by her husband William “Knothole” Passwaters; and two sons, Harry Vincent Truitt, Jr. and Benny Vincent Truitt.
For many years she volunteered at the Woodbridge Elementary School Cafeteria where her children and a granddaughter attended. She also volunteered at the Laurel Senior Center for several years. She attended church on a regular basis and had a strong faith and belief in God.
She enjoyed cooking, loved walking and bicycling, listening to country gospel music and especially loved her clocks and had one that chimed once every 30 minutes to tell time as she was blind.
A true matriarch to her family she was very devoted to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are three daughters, Joann Beard and husband Tawn Sr. of Seaford, DE, Rebecca Morris of Bridgeville, DE and Evelyn Howe and husband Henry of Ellendale, DE; three sons, Robert Truitt and wife Debbie of Bradenton, FL., Eddie Truitt and Fiancée Sharon Moore of Federalsburg, MD, and Richard Truitt of California; 15 grandchildren, James “Buddy” Passwaters and fiancee’ Courtney Wright, Tawn Marie “Tawni” Beard, Tawn “TJ” Beard JR., Tina Marie Howe & Fiancee’ Ben McCurdy, Henry Erving Howe, Christopher William Howe and girlfriend Samantha, Kenneth Eugene Howe, Josh Taylor and wife Marie Taylor, Lacey Truitt, Billy Truitt, Kahla Butler, Ryan Sparrow, Amy Huffman and husband Scott Huffman, Debbie Morris and Norman Morris Jr.; and 15 great grandchildren,. Rilynn Passwaters, Marshall Eck, Serenity Dream Cordery, Madison Taylor, Alexa Taylor, Krystal Bennett, Kenneth Lee Willey, Jr., William Louis Willey, Alexis Marie Willey, Trinity Teagan Huffman, Jasmine Morris, Damien Morris, Malachi Morris, Morgan King and Makenna Morris.
She is also survived by a longtime family member and friend Eddie Passwaters of Bridgeville, DE and many friends who loved and cherished her.
Memorial services will be held on Friday October 5, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE where friends may call after 10 AM. Burial will follow at Bridgeville Cemetery.
