Eugene F. Kredensor's Obituary
Eugene F. Kredensor, age 71, of Bridgeville, DE, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at his home. He was born on February 19, 1952, in Philadelphia, PA, the son of the late Eugene and Hedwig J. Kredensor.
Philly born and bred, Eugene was a graduate of Roman Catholic High School, Class of 1969. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and Technology from Temple University, after which he began working for Reading Railroad in 1975. Eugene’s career path led him to Amtrak, where he dedicated 36 years, retiring in 2012. He then moved to Delaware.
Always strong in faith, Eugene was a member of St. Hedwig’s in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park and Mary, Mother of the Redeemer in Lansdale, PA. He was most recently a member of Our Lady of Lourdes in Seaford, DE.
Eugene had many hobbies and interests. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hiking and was an Outdoor Wilderness Leader in Wyoming with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). Eugene also liked to bike, golf, travel, and cruise to various locations around the world. He was a skilled woodworker and an amateur winemaker, as well. Eugene had a uniquely dry sense of humor. He was an even-tempered, quiet, and patient man who was not only a respected leader, but also was a mentor to many who needed his advice and was always willing to listen.
Above all, Eugene cherished time spent with those he held most dear. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend who will be genuinely missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by his cousin, Marianne Drumm. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Mary Kredensor; and his sons, Daniel Kredensor of St. Stephen, SC, and Francis Kredensor of Charleston, WV.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Dr, Lewes, DE, 19958, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM.
