Chief Ernest “Rudy” Swanson was a leader among leaders. He was my “Boss “ for twenty years of my thirty years on the job. I learned many things from him and was encouraged to continue moving forward. He was my friend while we worked together and after he retired. We kept in touch and periodically got together to share a meal. I will miss him our phone calls and lunches. God bless you Boss. Ret. Rudy was a great person to talk with, as he had a huge inventory of great stories and observations about a wide variety of interests. He was an officer and gentleman in the best and highest traditions of the United States Marines. RIP my friend.

My neighbor spoke so highly of Rudy for his kindness, caring tenderly for his wife and including her when she was widowed. I introduced myself as I saw him working on his meticulous lawn one day. He had such a welcoming way and we would have many great chats on his porch about all the interesting people he encountered on the streets of NY. He was a quintessential gentleman with a great heart and strong convictions, shared gently. Peace Rudy and Eric, we will all miss him along with you. Please continue to share his stories.
