Ernest F. Shufelt's Obituary
Ernest F. Shufelt Jr., age 74, of Bridgeville, DE passed away on Friday, May 29, 2015 at his home. He was born in Federalsburg, MD on October 27, 1940, son of the late Ernest Friss, Sr. and Catherine (Webster) Shufelt.
Mr. Shufelt worked at Zachery's Bakery and Service Trucking in Federalsburg, MD for several years. He later worked as a Truck Driver with PENCO Corp. in Seaford, DE for 36 years, retiring in 2004. Mr. Shufelt's true calling in life was being a farmer. He farmed all his life on his parent's land, Shufelt Farms, in Federalsburg, MD. He had a green thumb and was very proud of how much his hard labor and dedication made the Shufelt Farms prosper.
Mr. Shufelt was an avid camper and also enjoyed fishing and crabbing. He loved watching NASCAR where his favorite driver was Jimmy Johnson #48 and listening to country music. He loved his family dearly, especially his "girls", his wife Fay, his daughter Carolyn and his granddaughter Caitlyn, they were the apples of his eyes. Mr. Shufelt was a jokester at heart, always making his family and friends laugh.
Mr. Shufelt is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Edna Fay Shufelt of Bridgeville, DE; two daughters: Carolyn Robison and her husband Ronald of Bridgeville, DE and Donna Faye Breeding and her husband Glenn of Federalsburg, MD; a granddaughter, Caitlyn M. Rifenburg and her fiancé Kyle Short of Milford, DE; a brother, Ralph E. Shufelt of DE; many step grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends whom Mr. Shufelt viewed as family.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at 3:00 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE 19933, where friends may call at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow Services at Bridgeville Cemetery, Market & Laws Streets, Bridgeville, DE.
