Ernest K. Quillen's Obituary
Ernest K. Quillen , age 84, of Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Renaissance Healthcare, Millsboro, DE, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Ocean View, DE, on February 7, 1928 , son of the late William P. and Florence Mae (Quillen) Quillen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: William, Edgar, Ralph and Irvin Quillen and two sisters: Helen Sachs and Alice Justice.
Mr. Quillen was a resident of Lewes since 1966. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Lewes where he served as a deacon, trustee, Awana Commander, Sunday School Teacher and a Sunday Service Greeter. As a young man and throughout his life, he thoroughly enjoyed working on boats. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1950. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 63.5 years, Dorothy J. Quillen; two daughters: LuAnn Emery and her husband Alan of Greenville, SC and Cindy Dukes and her husband Hal of Rehoboth Beach, DE; two grandsons: Nathan and Brian Emery; and his granddog, Shofer.
Friends may call on Monday, October 22, 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes. Interment with military honors will be on Tuesday, October 23, at 10:00 AM at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 12:00 Noon at the First Baptist Church of Lewes, 1001 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Lewes, c/o Building Fund, at the above address.
