Elsie Emerson's Obituary
Elsie Emerson, age 94, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 in Lewes, DE. She was born in Carroll, PA on Tuesday, June 12, 1917, daughter of the late James and Mary (O'Neil) Mitchell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas "Bud" Emerson and her son, Robert T. Laverick and daughter-in-law, Jean (Churella) Laverick.
Mrs. Emerson was a resident of Rehoboth Beach for the past 11 years, originating from Nanty-Glo, PA. She was a homemaker and the last surviving member of her large immediate family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Nanty-Glo and a member of the former Evansburg Chapter #303 of O. E. S. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be sorely missed by all that knew her.
Mrs. Emerson is survived by her son, James S. and his wife Rosalie (Scappino) Emerson of Nanty Glo, PA; her daughter, Betty Jean Meszaros and her husband Thomas of Rehoboth Beach, DE; nine grandchildren: Thomas, Robert and his wife Jill, John and his wife Stacy, Joseph and his wife Chrissy, Jason, Jeremy and his wife Monica, Gregory, Joshua and his wife Courtney, and Joel; and eight great-grandchildren: Mitchell, Shaniah and Madison Laverick, Thomas, Kathryn and Jack Meszaros and Brady and Lyla Emerson.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 12:30 PM at the First Baptist Church of Nanty Glo, 995 2nd Street, Nanty-Glo, PA with the Pastor Geno Bartoletti officiating. Interment will follow in Pike Brethren Cemetery, Mundays Corner, PA. Friends may visit on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 11:00 to 12:00 pm at the Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, 1102 Cardiff Road, Nanty-Glo, PA 15943.
There will also be a viewing on Friday, April 6, 2012 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes DE.
