Eloise Jeter Murray's Obituary
Eloise J. Murray, age 92 of Bridgeville, DE, passed away at her home surrounded by her family. She slipped away to heaven after a short battle with cancer on the morning of Wednesday, January 11, 2023.
Eloise was born on May 21, 1930, in Newark, NJ, daughter of the late Robert and Viola Hulin. There were many places she called home in her 92 years, including East Orange, NJ, Scotch Plains, NJ, Hillsboro, NJ, Chatham, NJ, Jackson, NJ, Duluth, GA, Riverview, FL, and finally Bridgeville, DE.
Eloise earned her degree from Howard University before working for the Donut Corp of America, Ciba Geigy Pharmaceuticals as a data entry clerk, and Robins Day Car in Duluth, GA.
Eloise loved to travel all around the world, play and watch tennis, read, and dance. She was always ready for a good time with family and friends and cherished time spent with those she held most dear. Eloise was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Loved by many, she will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, Eloise was preceded in death by two loving and extraordinary husbands: George D. Jeter and Essie “Denny” Murray; and her sister, Juanita Johnson. She is survived by her sons: Gary R. Jeter (Jennifer) of Bridgeville, DE, David A. Jeter of Riverview, FL, and Michael Murray (Nicole) of Maplewood, NJ; her grandson, Greg Dechaine of Odenton, MD; her sisters: Florence Randolph of Washington, DC and Roberta Ford of Madison, AL; her nieces and nephews: Lisa Johnson of Federal Way, WA, Dr. Paula Edney of NY, NY, Mark Johnson of Benton, PA, Leslie Randolph of Washington, DC, Merel Phillips of Madison, AL, Dwight Ford of Tampa, FL, Darryl Ford Williams of Pittsburgh, PA, and Deborah Larson of McLean, VA; and her paw-granddogs: Otis, Abner, and Sergio.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Jessica and Tia of Vitas Hospice for the exemplary care of Eloise during her illness.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023, at 1:00 PM, at Hillside Cemetery, 1401 Woodland Avenue, Scotch Plains, NJ. Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, Bridgeville, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
