Elmira M. Laube's Obituary
Elmira May (Brooks) Laube age 84, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 23, 2010, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, DE. She was born in Lancaster, PA, on November 2, 1925, daughter of the late Elmer J. and Elsie May (Eisenberger) Brooks.
Mrs. Laube was born, raised and educated in Lancaster, PA. She served her country during WW II as a WAVE in the U.S. Navy, was a member of Blue Mountain Waves and Waves National, and American Legion Post 28, Millsboro, DE. Her name can be found on the National World War II Memorial in Washington, DC, and the Women in Service Memorial in Arlington Cemetery. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching and her pet cats, Callie and Precious. Her favorite pastime for many years was sending Christmas cards containing a personal handwritten letter to our troops overseas. She was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and aunt.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Oscar Laube II and her brother Elmer J. Brooks Jr.
She is survived by a son, Charles Oscar Laube III; two daughters: Charlotte May (Laube) Young and Patricia Ann (Laube) Potts; 4 granddaughters, Sharon Young & Lisa Young, Karyn (Young) Roach, and Kelly Potts; 4 grandsons, Charles D. Laube, Shawn Potts, Nicholas Dugan, and Sean Perry; 1 great-grandson, Eric E. Roach II; 2 sisters: Doris V. Wolf and Shirley A. Nolt; 11 nieces and nephews; 19 grand- nieces and nephews; and 11 great-nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held September 3rd, 2010, at 7 P.M. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 500 Pearl Street, Lancaster. PA. Interment is private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The USO, The Wounded Soldiers Fund, The ASPCA, and please send some Christmas cards to our troops overseas.
