Ellen L Clemens, age 71, of Lewes, DE passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov 9th surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 13th, 1947 in Wilmington, DE, daughter of the late Willard and Blanche Fogwell Andrews.
Ellen was a graduate of Brevard College in North Carolina. She worked as an accountant at Blue Cross for over 38 years. After retiring, she and her husband Donald Sr. of 45 years enjoyed traveling to beautiful destinations together.
Her loving and compassionate personality was evident in the way she enjoyed her family, friends and community. Ellen was a member of Hillcrest/Belfonte Methodist Church, where she was involved with the United Methodist Women and served as President and Vice President of the group and sang in the church choir. However, her love for singing did not stop there, she was also a member of the Cape Henlopen Senior Center chorus. Her other favorite pastime of doing crafts led her to be part of the Chapel Green Crafty Ladies. She was proud to be a part of such a wonderful group of women.
Although Ellen had a passion for many things, her biggest joy was her grandchildren. She loved spending quality time with them- reading, shopping, singing, playing games, doing crafts, and taking them to the pool and beach. She was a wonderful grandmother and has given her grandchildren such great memories.
Her survivors include her husband Donald G. Clemens, Sr.; two sons, Donald G. Clemens, Jr. (Danielle) of Newark, DE and Andrew M. Clemens (Cheryl) of Elkton, MD; a brother Robert W. Andrews (Joan) of Milton, DE; and four beloved grandchildren, Tyler, Kristyn, Shane and Rosemary. She was predeceased by an infant daughter Lisa Ann Clemens.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 2:00 pm. with time for visitation with family from 1pm – 2pm at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, and 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Burial will be private at a later date.
