Elizabeth B. Freitag's Obituary
Elizabeth B. Freitag, age 102, of Bridgeville, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, DE. She was born in Philadelphia, PA, on Saturday, September 4, 1909, daughter of the late William and Barbara (Schneider) Katzmann.
Mrs. Freitag spent most of her life in Philadelphia and Hatboro, PA before moving to Bridgeville in 1996 to reside with her son and daughter-in-law. She was an active member of the Upper Dublin Lutheran Church in Ambler, PA where she often played the organ. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, especially pinnacle; more than her hobbies, she most enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. Freitag was a dedicated homemaker and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and dear friend.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Freitag was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert Freitag; five brothers; John, William, Leonard, Charles and Henry Katzmann and a step-grandson Steven Strassacker. She is survived by her son Robert J. Freitag and his wife Barbara J. of Bridgeville, DE; two grandchildren: Glenn Freitag and his wife Wendy of Lancaster, PA and Mark Freitag and his wife Maria of Plainfield, NJ; two step-grandchildren: Frank Strassacker and his wife Patricia of Horsham, PA, and JoAnne Peters of Seaford, DE; 10 great grandchildren: Brittany Boyer and her husband Micah, Taylor Freitag, Ryan Freitag, Madison Freitag, Zachary Freitag, Gregory Peters, and Scott Peters of Seaford, DE, Ashley Romano and her husband Christopher of Norristown PA, and Jonathan Jordan of Darlington, SC and Frank Strassacker of Hatboro, PA; and 2 step-great grandchildren: William Gilbert of Montgomery County, PA and Anita O'Shea and her husband Tim of Montgomery County, PA . Also many nieces and dear friends.
All services are private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, Bridgeville, DE.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
