I never met Betty. In 1994, I was working in a store called Artworks owned by Liz Reilly in Kennett Square, PA. Betty had a painting titled "Farm In Wales" for sale at that time. I was quite taken by the painting and her technique. To this day, I have that painting hanging in my home and enjoy it as much as when I first bought it.It is very peaceful to look at. I thought you would like to know that she will be remembered through her artwork.
My condolences to the her family.

I met Betty almost 50 years ago when her daughter Donna and I were in the 6th grade. I've been privileged to know the DeBoer family for many years. When we were kids, Betty was just a Mom. A Mom who enjoyed her children, and their friends, and their interests, and pizza. A Mom who appreciated the arts. There was always music in the DeBoer household. And Betty was always painting something. As a 6th grader I didn't know what it was like to have a Mom to sit and paint the way Betty did, it was intriguing, interesting, so very different than my home. I will remember Betty DeBoer holding open her door in welcome with a smile on her face. Just a lovely woman.
Betty and I were together at Carrie Donnie Elementary in the Colonial School District. We kept in contact and usually connected at least once in the summer when my family was in Lewes. I have several DeBoer paintings in our home which always remind me this talented, gentle, kind woman. She will continue to live in all those she touched over the years.
My sympathy to Sam, Debbie, and Donna. Unfortunately,I am unable to attend the service as I am in Tucson.
Sam,
Remembering the wonderful "New Year's Eve Celebrations" with you and Betty, and Irv and Joanne. We treasure Betty's watercolor of Lewes beach and lighthouse in our home.
Keeping you and your family in our prayers,
Louise & Larry Wagner
She was a fine lady, full of wit and humor and leaves behind a wonderful legacy of family and friends. I'm sure she was deeply loved by all who knew her. God Bless!

Dear DeBoer Family,
My deepest condolences to you all. Mrs. DeBoer was my teacher at WFS and also a neighbor. She painted my portrait when I was a child, and I have very fond memories of going to your house to sit for it. Although that was a long, long time ago, I still have vivid memories of Mrs. DeBoer and remember her as a very kind, upbeat person who talked about you all with great love and pride. Thinking of you all.

I will always cherish my friendship with Betty and the joy her perpetual smile and positive attitude brought. She was a role model in how to live life to its fullest. And to think she was so active until the end. I know how much she loved her family, especially Sam, and I know she will be missed. But she will continue to be an inspiration to me whenever I watercolor paint or whenever I need a nudge to get to water aerobics! My prayers are with you all, and only our relocation to Chicago, IL will keep me from joining in celebrating her life later this week. It was such a privilege to call Betty my friend.
