Elizabeth Lee Bonnett's Obituary
Elizabeth Lee Bonnett age 94 of Georgetown, DE passed January 17, 2024, she was born on October 11, 1929, in Baltimore, MD, to the late Elmer George Baumann and Dorothy Vivian (Morris) Baumann.
Young Betty liked playing with friends, Ice skating on city streets when frozen and watching the lamplighter light the gas streetlamps.
Betty loved dancing, and in her early marriage got to do so when Bill, her husband, played drums in a band at local Baltimore clubs on weekends. They spent most spring and summer weekends at a shore home in Middle River, MD. They enjoyed boating, fishing, and having friends down. Betty enjoyed traveling with her husband and sitting with him on their gazebo watching the sunsets, while enjoying the smells of Bill's many rose gardens in Baldwin, MD.
After Bill's sudden death she moved to an apartment complex which had all widows living in her building. They had PJ parties, went to dances and had many laughs. She was a member of the Red Hat Luncheon Group of friends and was in a bowling league for years. She loved collecting various ornaments and jewelry and enjoyed searching for those in boutiques. Betty loved her computer. It kept her up to date with friends and family, kept her busy playing games. She loved singing along with her extensive music downloads, with her cat, LillyBean, always by her side.
Betty's best memories were of family gatherings and bus trips. Family Christmas always ended with everyone singing Christmas carols. Being a close-knit family, the girls decided to have a lady only family night once a month. The laughs during those nights, with Betty's quick wit and humor, will never be forgotten, especially the Bring your Wedding Album and Comedy Club nights. She enjoyed people watching at Rehoboth Beach with her daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter, grandson, and his wife.
When COVID arrived, Betty was visiting her daughter and son-in-law in Frankford, DE, and it was decided she would stay with them. Brandywine Senior Living at Fenwick Island was Betty's next residence where she made friends, loved the tasty food, and enjoyed the many activities they have daily. When she needed skilled nursing care, Harrison House of Georgetown was chosen. There she received the care she needed, winning the hearts of those who cared for her.
She is survived by Her daughter; Sharon Bonnett Dorsch (Gary) of Frankford DE; her grandson Bart Dorsch (Katie) of Pittsville, MD; her sisters; Doris Bodecker of Orlando, FL, and Jean McKelvey (Charles) Of Nottingham, MD; her brother Paul Baumann of Glen Arm MD. And many Nieces and Nephews.
