Dear Peter, Bobby, Janice, Lorrie, Harold, Betty Ann and Edward,
I’m so sorry for your tremendous loss. I loved your mom very much and just have a hard time imagining the world without her. So I cannot begin to understand the pain and heartbreak each of you feel.
Your mom was very special to everyone in my family. Bob shared some sweet memories in February of his time working with her at the track. He said that she always made everything easier and all those times were full of laughs. I remember your mom and dad easing Bob’s entry from Navy life and how your mother helped my mom arrange food for Ann and Bob’s wedding at St Hughes reception hall. Any job was never too big or difficult for her and always so many laughs along the way.
“Joey” loved scooping your mom up in the front yard when he breezed into Ridge Road, yelling for “Betty Boop”! Your mom laughing away that crazy time of kids screaming, “mommy, mommy, mommy”! I just loved seeing her never missing a beat and bee bopping with my brother amid the chaos. Again, your mother helped my mom arrange another mini reception when Joe and Nancy got married. She always made the party a party.
I loved seeing my dad dance the cha cha cha with your mom and waiting for it,... actually seeing him smile with pure joy, he found another dance partner!! Only your mom could break through the toughest or crankiness or tensions of any moment and make the room bright and know that each of us had smiles. I loved hearing those laughs and watching the ease of music, dancing and always good times.
I remember how great your mother was with my sister when she was pulled from her little group of friends (Lorrie and Betty Ann) and had to start first grade without Lorri. Your mother knew how profound and difficult this was for Cathy. She always worried about her - keeping a special eye on her.
I remember the laughs and phone calls shared and times our moms had wading through clothes on the lines. Those two ladies would drop anything at anytime for a good belly laugh. Those great gasping out of breath laughs our moms shared at antics in our court. Betty kept my mom more present these last years, sharing such sweet stories and giving me chances to laugh again at all her memories of my mom as well as my whole family.
I will treasure all those sweet times and the more quiet times when your mother lent a loving ear to me during some challenging times. Nothing was too big for your mom and after she listened I always felt she took a part of the worry away so I could breath a bit easier.
She’s left a big hole in my heart but I know these sweet memories make me very grateful that I got to share your mom. If she gave me all these wonderful moments, I know your memories and your stories will help all of you keep her in your hearts.
Keeping all of you in my heart.
Much love,
Marybeth
