Eleodoro Jerome Tumminello's Obituary
Eleodoro “Jerry” Jerome Tumminello, a devoted family man, proud veteran, and beloved friend to many, passed away peacefully on August 3,2025, at the age of 92.
Jerry lived a full and generous life, marked by service, community, and a deep love for his family. Born in 1932, Jerry graduated from Calvert Hall High School in the Class of 1951. Soon after, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served honorably during the Korean War — a chapter in his life that instilled in him a strong sense of duty and discipline that he carried throughout his years. Following his military service, Jerry embarked on a 33-year career with the C&P Telephone Company, where his meticulous nature, organization, and dedication earned him the respect of his colleagues. He retired in 1992 and, in 1996, he and his beloved wife Dawn moved to Lewes, Delaware — a place where he would spend many joyful years surrounded by friends, laughter, and community.
Jerry was the epitome of active living. He rode his motorcycle well into his 80s — finally hanging up his helmet at age 85. He loved boating, playing pool, bowling, and being part of organizations that reflected his values. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, the Angola by the Bay Men's Club, and the American Legion Post 28. He was also a faithful parishioner of Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, where he found spiritual fulfillment and fellowship. Known for his generous heart, sharp mind, and impeccable attention to detail, Jerry was deeply admired and well-liked by all who knew him. His friendships spanned decades, and he was often the first to lend a hand or offer wise words with a warm smile.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Dawn Tumminello; his son, Michael Tumminello; daughter, Deborah Tumminello-Feeley; step-son, Steve Harikal (Sharon); step-daughter, Debra Chaney; his grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Carmel Tumminello; mother, Sadie Tumminello; brother, John Tumminello; step-daughter, Brenda Harikal; and step-daughter, Dawn McKinley.
