Elberon T. Connaway "Tim"'s Obituary
Elberon T. Connaway Jr. "TIM", age 72 of Lewes, DE passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 14, 1942 in Wilmington, DE and was the eldest son of the late Elberon T. Connaway Sr. and Clare Graves Connaway.
In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by his wife Carol Ann Connaway, his daughter Jennifer and his stepson Robert Dickson.
Tim was a Lewes High School Graduate from the Class of 1960. He began his career with Diamond State Telephone and later retiring as a Foreman for Verizon after 41 years of dedicated service. He was an avid sports enthusiast especially rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles and the University of North Carolina Basketball team. As a hunter he enjoyed many wonderful adventures in the wild hunting for deer and waterfowl. For many years he has been involved with the Ducks Unlimited Program and was an avid State and Federal Duck Stamp Collector. In his earlier years he was very proud to coach and manage within the Lewes Little League Program and you would find him filling the town with the aroma of cooking their famous chicken. He was also involved with the Boy Scouts Program and had served as Local President and State Director for the Jaycees. He became a member of the Lewes Yacht Club February 23, 1981 and served as Commodore from 1998-2000. He most recently became a member of the Moose Lodge 646 in Lewes, DE.
He is survived by three sons, Elberon “TJ” Connaway III of St. Albans, VT, Christopher B. Connaway and his wife Teresa of Hampstead, NC, Shawn M. Connaway and his wife Cindy of Wrightsville Beach, NC.; two daughters, Terri Lynn Cooke and her husband Bob of Dover, DE and Wendy Wall and her husband Bart of Lewes, DE; two brothers, Michael Connaway and wife Linda of Atkinson, NH and Anthony "Tony" Connaway and his wife Patty of Niskayuna, NY; one sister Melissa Wagner of Midlothian, VA., eight grandchildren, Elberon “TY” Connaway IV, Hannah Connaway, Jacob Connaway, Jonah Connaway, Julie Connaway, Judson Wall, Timothy Wall, and Robert Cooke; with several nieces and nephews.
Tim will be remembered by his family as Poppy. He was an excellent father and an exceptional grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. where friends may visit one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at St. Peter's Cemetery, Pilottown Road, Lewes, DE.
