Elaine M. Minakowski's Obituary
Elaine Marie (Clark) Minakowski, age 58, of Lewes, DE, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2007, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD. Mrs. Minakowski was born October 26, 1948 in Wilmington, DE, daughter of the late Daniel Ettinger Clark, Sr. and Lillian Rosa (Donovan) Clark.
Elaine had many talents which she put to good use. Through the years she worked as a Cosmetologist owning and operating the Laynee & Company Hair Salon in New Castle. She also worked as the head cook at Hodgson Vo-Tech High School in Glasgow; she was a certified tutor for the New Castle County school district specializing in Reading; and she was a collector for the Bank of New York. In 2004 Elaine survived a lung transplant.
When Elaine was not working, she loved having her grandchildren around her. She enjoyed boating, fishing, scrapbooking and decorating her home for all to see. Elaine loved to be surrounded by her family and many friends and she especially enjoyed taking golf cart rides around the park where she made her home with her husband Jerry.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Frank Clark. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Jerry V. Minakowski; her son Jerry V. Minakowski II and his wife Heather of Dover; her daughter Danielle R. Sheets and her husband S. Lee of New Castle; four grandchildren, Savannah, Matthew, Kenneth and Jacob; and two brothers, Richard Clark and his wife Beverly of New Castle and Danny E. Clark, Jr. of Harrington.
All services are private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to: Penn Medical Development, ATTN: Roger Reina, 3535 Market Street, Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104. Checks should be made payable to Trustees of Univ. of Penn with a notation that the contribution is in memory of Elaine Minakowski.
